We will hold a car for a few days to allow you to check dates or to allow time for a deposit cheque to clear. Please call us to discuss on 01347 811908 or use this enquiry form - classic car hire yorkshire enquiry
During the Summer the cars can be fully booked for several weekends ahead. Midweek days are usually easier. If you are flexible on your choice of car or on the date required, then we may be able to accommodate you at short notice.
It is advisable to book at least 1 month ahead
Please refer to the prices shown on the website under Tariffs and Terms. Call us for periods longer than 3 days. Click here to go to the tariffs page - Classic car hire yorkshire tariffs
We normally require full payment at the time of booking or voucher purchase.
We may accept a non refundable deposit of 25% of the full cost of the hire at the time of booking and the full balance must be paid and cleared 30 days before the first day of hire. Please discuss this when you enquire / book.
Yes card payments can be made by telephone.
Cheques are accepted for payment but must be cleared before the hire date. Cheques are not accepted for the security deposit.
If you have to cancel your booking prior to the last 14 days before the start of your hire period, we will issue a credit voucher that can be used for a car hire during the next 12 months, for one of our cars. For cancellations in the last 14 days prior to your start date, a charge will be made to cover our loss as we are unlikely to be able to fill that date with another hirer. This charge will usually be 50% of the full hire period cost. ( this includes the 25% deposit).
We do not take cash for the security deposit.. A security deposit pre authorisation must be made on a credit card at the time of collection on the first day of the hire period. We do not normally accept bookings from anyone who does not have a credit card, which can be used for this purpose. This transaction can be done on the first day of hire so that surprise events can be planned.
The security deposit is to cover the insurance excess. Details are on the booking form. This is refundable on return of the car without damage. If the hirer cannot refuel the car, receives any parking or speeding fines, or causes any minor damage to the car, then we need to be able to recover these costs. It also allows us to charge any excess on insurance claims, should the hirer refuse to pay any invoice raised against damage done up to the excess limit.
Our daily hire rates include fully comprehensive insurance for one driver. If you want more than one person to drive, there is a small surcharge of £20 per day for each additional driver. Subject to acceptance by the insurers.
Drivers must be aged 25 or over ( 30 for the Morgan and the E-type Jaguar ), be in good health and have held a full driving licence for at least 2 years. Drivers should not have had more than one accident in the last 3 years and should not have more than 6 penalty points current on their licence. Any history of serious motoring convictions must be declared before booking.
A one day hire starts from 9:00am with return by 8:00pm
For two days or more the start is 9:00am on day 1 and return by 8:00pm on the last day.
For anything outside of these times please call us to discuss.

Our rates per day reduce for longer periods up to 3 days. For all days beyond 3 our minimum rates apply for each extra day. When we are running a promotion ( 4 days for the price of 3 ) there is a mileage limit of 500 miles in total over the 4 days.
No. For our normal hire rates we do not restrict the mileage. The 4 for 3 promotion allows 500 miles in total All mileage over this allowance has a surcharge of 60 pence per mile.
No. The insurance company will only cover the cars for the UK mainland.
Yes, we give you an induction and show you all the controls to ensure you feel comfortable with the car before setting off.
If the driver prefers, we will take them on a short accompanied drive to ensure that they are happy with everything.
The process of induction and sign over of the car takes typically 30 minutes to complete.
All cars go out full of petrol and the hirers must return them with a full tank.
There are a number of petrol stations within 10 miles of our base. All the cars are fuelled with unleaded petrol and some of them require an additive which we will provide at the start of your hire. All of the cars will run better on the higher octane fuel (98 octane or "ultimate" )
Yes. Before going out on hire, all our cars are checked and inspected for safety and reliability. The car will be washed and polished ready for your enjoyment.
You will have our mobile phone number and can call us at any time if you are worried about something to do with the car.
All the cars are highly maintained and we do not expect that you will have any problems, however, things can go wrong, so all our cars are covered for breakdown and recovery. In the event of a problem, the RAC will try to fix the car but if they can't do this, they will bring the car back to base. If the car can not be repaired, quickly by the RAC, we will offer you either an alternative classic car or an alternative date to have the same classic car. ( both subject to availability )
Yes you can hire one of our classic cars for a special event, wedding, party, proms, etc. You need to call us to discuss your plans and we can advise on the suitability of each car for an event.
Most of our cars are only 2 seater and tend to be used on self drive hire, with the Father of the Bride driving.
We may be able to provide a chauffeur upon request - please ask.
Our classic cars can be hired for any social, domestic or pleasure purpose. They are often used for weddings and honeymoons, etc. They can not be used by the hirer for a commercial purpose (eg- as a taxi)
We print off personalised gift vouchers showing the name of the recipient (if you wish) relevant date (birthday, Christmas, anniversary etc) and a picture of the classic car chosen. The vouchers are then valid for a full 12 months from the date of issue. They can be changed for a different car after they have been purchased, subject to availability and price adjustments. Please call us to discuss your classic car hire voucher needs.
If you are unsure of which car to choose, we can produce a voucher for any car up to a given value. This can then be used as part or full payment for a classic car hire chosen after the gift has been given. The vouchers are valid for 12 months and we are flexible about changes, so long as they are within this time period.
We can source some appropriate gifts and books, that are relevant to the car of choice or the place of interest if touring. Please let us know on the booking form of any interests or type of gift required. A classic car hire gift voucher placed inside a book about the chosen car, makes a perfect present for a birthday, anniversary, retirement or just to say "Thanks" Alternatively a voucher placed inside a book about the Yorkshire moors, coast or dales, or about Hearbeat locations makes a lovely gift and allows you to read a little about the area before you plan your places to visit and stay. Model cars can be supplied to go with vouchers if sufficient time is allowed for delivery.
We suggest you call us to discuss details. We can tailor a picnic to your budget and tastes to go along with your classic car hire outing. We pack your picnic into an old fashioned wicker hamper with plates, cups and cutlery. We do not include any alcohol in the picnics.
Yes we have a lot of experience in keeping a classic car hire as a surprise for occasions like birthday, anniversary, retirement and wedding. To ensure confidentiality all mail is sent out in plain envelopes. Call us to discuss your plans and we will do all we can to help you with a surprise to remember. YES. This is one of our ways of helping you to enjoy your experience with a classic car hire. We can include maps and suggested routes in a pack of information at the start of your classic car hire if you wish. We know the area and the routes that combine great scenery with a suitable level of challenge for the driver. Many people ofcourse prefer to just drive without a fixed route and just meander around the area. It's up to you, but take a look at our examples by clicking here - http://www.reflectionsclassiccarhire.com/classic-hire-cars/beautifulplacesclassiccaroutings.html
It is not normally possible to deliver the cars, particularly at busy times of the year. We also need to complete details for insuring the cars on handover which is better done at our base.
We will consider delivery in the local area upon request. The charge for this will be £1.50 per mile.
We cannot deliver over long distances and your money would be better spent on a nice hotel in the area and a classic car hire break. Have a look at our tour break ideas by clicking on the buttons on the images here - http://www.reflectionsclassiccarhire.com/classic-hire-cars/beautifulplacesclassiccaroutings.html
Our classic cars are in superb condition and have been restored and improved for safety and reliability where necessary. You will not believe that these cars are between 17 and 46 years old, as they look like new.
Our cars are typically over 30 years old and need a higher level of care than modern cars to keep them in top form and this is something we take very seriously. Our classic hire cars are some of the best examples you will find.
All our cars are in excellent condition and are highly maintained to keep them in good order. Some improvements have been made to them for improved reliability, such as electronic ignition and better starter motors.
Unforeseen problems can still arise and we will do all we can to help in the event of a breakdown.
All of the cars are covered with the RAC for breakdown and recovery.
We try to keep the web site up to date so the answer will usually be yes. However from time to time we may have access to a different classic car for hire, so it is worth asking.
All the pictures are of the actual classic cars for hire, that you can drive.
In principle yes, but we would assess an enquiry based on the type of classic run involved. If a run includes time on circuits or racetracks or has a competitive measure of time involved, then this is not covered by insurance and so can not be allowed. An example of an event that would be ok can be seen here - http://www.reflectionsclassiccarhire.com/classiccarhirenews/mg-car-club-yorkshire-weekend.html
None of our cars have been prepared for rallying, they are all normal road cars, therefore we would not allow the cars out for a competition rally.
Classic car hire for an organised car club tour or social event is fine. An example of such an event can be seen by clicking here - http://www.reflectionsclassiccarhire.com/classiccarhirenews/mg-car-club-yorkshire-weekend.html
You can leave this on our premises while you are out on your classic car hire. We have plenty of space that is off the road and away from traffic.
Reflections Classic Car Hire - Seatbelt information
We are sometimes asked about the provision and use of seatbelts in a classic hire car, particularly when customers are considering carrying children as passengers. We are all very used to having seatbelts in our modern everyday cars, but when some of our classic cars were built, they did not have seatbelts fitted and some explanation is needed about what is required.
Below is a summary of what is required and what is fitted to our cars. It is not a requirement to fit seatbelts to a vehicle that did not originally have them when it was built, but if they are fitted then they must be used. All of our cars have seatbelts fitted for front seats and these must be used at all times. Rear seatbelts are fitted to some of our cars, but not all. Please refer to the table below to see exactly what is in each car. None of our classic hire cars have airbags.

Regarding children, it is necessary to conform to the new requirements of the child restraint regulations that came into force in September 2006. These are -
All children under 3 years old must use an appropriate child restraint when travelling in any car or goods vehicle (except in the rear of a taxi if a child seat is not available). Rear facing baby seats must not be used in seats with an active frontal air-bag.
Children aged 3 or more years old and up to 135cm (approx. 4ft 5in) in height must use an appropriate child restraint when travelling in cars or goods vehicles fitted with seat belts.
From May 2008 only child restraints complying with UN ECE Regulation 44.03 or a later standard may be used. From May 2009, where seat belts are provided, the number of people carried in the rear of vehicles may not exceed the number of seats available fitted with seat belts or child restraints.
Drivers are responsible for seat belt wearing and use of the relevant child seat or booster by children under 14 years of age.
