An MGA classic car holiday |
|
This year Reflections classic Car Hire took the MGA roadster over to Belgium and France for a holiday.
In July we covered 2000 miles of classic car driving on the continent, crossing over by ferry from Hull. We drove through Belgium first, taking in some tourist attractions on the way to Bastoigne where we took aprt in the Circuit des Ardennes commemoration. Hundreds of Classic cars arrived for a long weekend of fun organised around the Town which was the home of a famous race around the locality. On the Sunday we joined hundreds of other classic cars, to drive round the circuit which was fantastic fun. The Bugatti's ran the circuit for their second time and the sound of those engines was unforgetable. I can recommend this event to anyone that enjoys old cars and the driving in belgium was superb. After the race on the Sunday, we set off for Troyes in the champagne region of France which was our half way stop on the way to LeMans where we were headed for the Classics at Le Mans weekend. Again the driving was fantastic with pretty towns and villages spread out along excellent and quiet roads. Troyes was a beautiful city to spend a few days in and we left the MGA to rest for a couple of days in the hotel car park. A day trip to visit a champagne producing chateau saw the MGA back on the road for a drive around this gorgeous countryside and wow what a delight we found at the chateau at Bligny. The Classic racing at Le Mans was very enjoyable and our two week classic car holiday was quickly over. We made the return run up to Zebrugge in two parts to break up the 400 mile journey with a stop in Picardy, just north of Paris. As we drove around Paris in the MGA we got a lot of attention from passing motorists and their families. A lot of waving and thumbs up! A classic car hire is a great way to try out an old car, to see whether you like it and if you do then I can recommend a continental tour. |
